I believe in science, do you

Unfortunately the power was out so I missed most if not all of the kick off of the Democratic Convention on TV. I did get to hear Caroline Kenedy and Uncle Bobby speak. My power was out this morning from six thirty to just now. So I missed most of the begining of todays speeches, but I was lucky enough to catch some speeches on NPR. I was moved to tears by many of the speeches. I really have so much hope for November. More hope than I have for CUC unfortunately. My favorite quote has to be from the Virginian Gov., when he said that , "Unlike this administration, the next administration will believe in Science." I had to laugh and laugh and laugh.

I would like to thank PEW, Bridge Capitol Investment, and any private individual who has donated money to keep NPR going. I sadly just dont have enough to go around to give to NPR, but I am an avid listener (it is the only thing good on our airwaves in my opinion) and will be very sad if it is ever closed down.

CORRUPTION HILL

Why isn't anyone listening to Tina up there on corruption hill? Why do they think they can continue to get away with the same old blatant abuses time after time? When are the people going to finally wake up and stop voting for their uncles brothers sisters cousin?
I honestly think that many people either:

1. Don't know enough about government to know that there are serious deficits in accountability going on.
2. Don't want to change the status-quo as they are beneficiaries to the corruption and nepotism.
3. Don't think they have any power to do anything anyway.

I am getting discouraged too. Tina is doing her best to out the constant lack of foresight, planning and transparency, but I feel like no one is listening. No one is embarrassed that they are being outed for the obvious lack of due diligence. No one is embarrassed that they are being outed for their underhandedness. They even have the gall to express their "disappointment" for Tina's lack of apparent support for the scholarship or youth baseball programs. It is like they didn't even HEAR why she opposed the allocations. HELLO!

They deflect. They pretend to be compassionate. Yet they don't even care that the decisions they make with out any regard to process or protocol affect everyone and benefit few. I like what someone in the paper wrote about how little league only provides something to do for the BOYS in the CNMI. What about all the at risk girls? We all know they could use some programs. Or how about supporting other sports for a change?

I am all for a trades school and think that it is a great idea to empower those who want to learn a skill, but I am leery that they just gave that trades school 100,000 dollars without even looking at a business plan! That they would give the trades school that money instead of giving it to NMC when NMC had a trades program, or even any PSS school that could dearly use it. How is this happening?! I just don't understand.

Then, while reading the paper a few days ago seeing that PMIC was owed almost one million dollars again I felt so cynical and thought, will they try to bail CUC once again? This is exactly what Tina said when she opposed the bill that gave Agrekko that first money.

Expressionless EXPRESSIONS

Is it just me or is the sign at EXPRESSIONS an oxymoron or what? The building is beige and the sign is beige. Paint the sign already! Give it some EXPRESSION! Don't get me wrong, I do love the food in there and the cheeses and teas and the stuff... Some people don't even see the sign it blends in so much. Paint it red or orange or do a Jackson Pollock, just express yourself, please.

big boobies

I saw the previously recorded womens hurdles last night not knowing the outcome of the race. All the hype leading up to the acutal race made me giddy with anticipation for Lolo Jones to get that gold she has worked so hard for. I also noted that most of those runners had no boobs which reenforced my reasoning that people with smaller boobs have an advantage over all. They can wear cute sexy tops withour reprucussions of tacky bralessness. The clearance section of bras at Macys and Ross are always full of smaller sizes and they just dont make many sexy bras in the D's and up because more support means more material. There goes the demi. sigh. And most of all, small boobies are not a hinderance in sports, especially running. BUT THEN... after Lolo lost it on that 9th hurdle and other American pulled ahead, I realized SHE HAD BIG BOOBIES! I was sad for Lolo, but kinda happy that the big boobies pulled ahead. I still think small boobies are an advantage over all, but as they say the grass is always greener.

What a delightful surprise! My first comment (a year after the actual post =); from none other than THE Lil Hammerhead! My favorite blog of blogs! You were actually my inspiration to blog, however I got caught up in the reading and commenting on other, ok, ok, YOUR blog, I just never kept mine up. Perhaps in between the parenting, child bearing and teaching I will be doing this year I will blog more. I am still trying to find my voice and balance my life. Now back to lesson planning!
